I have been tearing apart and re-purposing things since I was able to hold tools. Tearing apart my childhood toys was what I considered playing with them. Erector sets were my first “hardware store”. Broken microwave ovens and string trimmers were my LEGOs. At this point, I rarely encounter anything I have not torn apart and fully inventoried and investigated. The challenge for me now lies in learning new and novel ways to recycle, upcycle, and re-purpose discarded materials.
Welcome to my home for all things recycled, upcycled, repurposed, and ultimately reimagined. My artistic career has been fanatically devoted to creating functional art from upcycled trash and repurposed materials. If something has stopped working or has become obsolete, my mind naturally wanders towards turning that object into a new form with a new function.
Rather than pursue a career in engineering, I dove into Industrial Design. When that proved to be more about thumbnail sketches and using virgin materials than hands-on creation, I made a switch towards exploring a degree in jewelry and metalsmithing. In addition to the natural upcycling and recycling that metalsmithing fosters, the formal academic study of metalsmithing started me down the path of all-around metallurgy, precious metal refining, and material sciences. Recycling trash had become a science and an art form.
When we are gone, trash will be the overwhelming proof that humans existed. My recycled and upcycled art will be the proof I existed. If you have trash you would like recycled, items you want upcycled, or materials you think could be repurposed, please contact me. Even if you have things you merely want transported or hauled away, I would be glad to talk with you. If whatever you have will fit on my recycled and upcycled truck, I can make whatever you have disappear as if it never existed.
